Vocabulary STEREOTYPES
fixed impressions, exaggerated or preconceived ideas about particular social groups, usually based solely on physical appearance. EQUALITY all people within a specific society have the same civil rights, freedom of speech, property rights, and equal access to social goods and services.. SEXISM gender discrimination is prejudice or discrimination based on a person's sex or gender. Fair Free from favoritism, self-interest and conforming to established rules/standards.

BECAUSE THEY CAN BE... -The foundation for prejudice and discrimination. -Obstacles in getting to know others for whom they are, versus who we think they might be. -Stereotypes are unfortunately learned at a young age, and they remain, as most mental models do - untested, unchallenged, confused with reality. Common sources of steretoypes include parents, other family members, educators, peers, media, etc.
