Welcome to our Epicurean Feast!
After reading about the types of foods the Romans ate and the set up of their “banquets” (symposium) You are now ready to prepare your own feast for class. Intro: make note of the types of foods served and the set up:
2
Read in your packet 1. What is the history and purpose of the wreath on the door? 2. What is the purpose and the history of the cornucopia ? 3. answer questions about Roman food-(1-4) do not do the activities. 4. PNI Petronius’ feast
3
First you need to select a Roman name and create a name tag with symbols or pictures depicting your philosophy-are you Epicurean(lavish-glutton) or Stoic (serious-communal)? Write your 3 words to describe your beliefs. You MUST wear this during our feast. You must also be prepared to discuss a current event and your Roman beliefs…use the 3 words as a conversation started. You can also bring in games such as dominoes, bingo, checkers and cards as Romans played games during banquets as well. You will also be responsible for preparing and bringing in an item for our feast.
