My state, Illinois 4th grade group Web Quest project – created by Miss Miller

2 Why is Illinois a good place to live?
In your group you have three people, together you are going to gather facts about Illinois, such as the state flower, bird, nickname, the states that are next to it, the history, and famous historical people connected to Illinois. Then after choosing whether the geography, history, or fun facts about Illinois are the best argument for living in Illinois give a short speech to the class defending your choice.

3 Roles Each person in your group must pick a role. Each person will research different facts about Illinois. Then everyone will share their discoveries to their other group members. Geographer – look at the placement of the state and discover facts such as the different landmarks, forests, and the largest city in Illinois and the number of states next to it. Historian – find out the famous people in history who have lived in Illinois Investigator – Find fun facts about Illinois, such as the state bird and flower, Illinois’ nickname, what Illinois is known for, as well as the cultural diversity.

4 Geographer Geographer – use the following hyperlinks to locate the information for your research, if you forget what your are looking for just refer back to slide #2:

5 Historian Historian – use the following hyperlinks to gather interesting information about famous people who lived or were born in Illinois. If you need more ideas for what you are looking for refer back to slide #2:

6 investigator Investigator – use the following links to find interesting information about your state on these websites you may focus on any fun fact, but if you need to refer to slide #2 for help:
