Explain yourself Point = what you learn about Crooks
Crooks is treated differently because he is black: I ain't wanted in the bunkhouse, and you ain't wanted in my room." "Why ain't you wanted?" Lennie asked. "'Cause I'm black. They play cards in there, but I can't play because I'm black.” Crooks is angry about the way he is excluded by the white men on the ranch, he feels hurt and bitter and takes out his anger on Lennie. This would make the reader take an instant dislike to Crooks, as they have come to pity him and understand Lennie. Crooks demonstrated the anger that perhaps most, if not all black men felt at the time.
