Speeches to Persuade Purpose is to sway the audience to your point of view, to convince the audience of the rightness of your argument. Commonly used in debate. Two main methods to persuade: appealing to reason, and appealing to emotion

Find authorities (experts) to help support your points. Concern should be on the truth. Avoid distortions, misquotations, evidence and quotations taken out of context or anything that distracts from the honesty.
