2. LIU-PS: PI.KFA-45: General
Since EYETS KFA45 runs in permanent short-circuit mode ;
Implemented fixed short-circuit and ripple reduction during EYETS.
Performance analysis and subsequent tuning ongoing (Current measurements, beam based measurements, optimizing tr, tf, ripples)
Beam based measurements revealed “rare” jitter events not noticed before (and not related to upgrade) – under investigation.
Since last reporting some changes:
Scope of 5th Generator WU adapted (see upcoming slide);
Gas, hydraulics and safety update in B365 requested as CONS WU;
(Mid-term) Suppression of SF6 gas filled TX lines (see upcoming slide).
EVM expenses profile has been updated accordingly. Expected expenses in lower than estimated mainly due to cable contracts and magnet parts.
ECR to be done for magnet exchange.
PLAN #10869, other groups contribution declared / accepted. Update foreseen: Planning for magnetic field measurements (benchmark) in PS- Ring right at the start of LS2 (heavy procedure, requires displacement of magnet).

3. LIU-PS: PI.KFA-45: Magnets
2 x spare tanks inc. 4 upgraded magnets each to be built;
Design and development and construction of 1 new tank + magnets within LIU.
1 spare tank with 4 upgraded magnets in ‘CONS’ (EDMS ).
Magnet to be exchange during LS2 (January 2020)
New magnet connection box/entry box.
Increased ferrites to avoid saturation effects during operation in degraded mode.
Magnet study/drawings: Drawings of existing magnet subcontracted to MME – now mostly done but major delays accumulated.
Design of new magnet started but progressing slowly due to other LIU work units. Accumulating delays – not an issue yet but partly explains variances .
Nevertheless raw material for tank in house, contract for tank manufacturing placed. Ferrites on order (delivery delayed but ok). Feedthroughs on order.
EVM expenses profile updated recently. Some uncertainty discovered with spending on CONS and BC 99248, tank so far cheaper than expected, ferrites not delivered.

4. LIU-PS: PI.KFA-45: 5th Generator
Modified Scope of project:
5th generator baseline changed from installation in B365 (civil engineering needed) to B867 test platform.
Deployment in B365 was not feasible manpower and subsequently schedule wise.
Decision taken to install the 5th generator in 865 Saleve 6 test cage.
Installation in 867 saves resources but still provides so far not available test and measurement platform (as well as a fully working spare system).
Work started (Layout, Clean up of test cage, PFL, switch refurbishment)
EVM structure changed and updated.
Fellow cost (since July) so far not accounted

5. LIU-PS Coaxial HV cables
Replacement of SF6 gas filled Tx lines:
52.3 Ohm conventional Tx cables(RG220 like) specified
Order placed delivery during YETS (installation foreseen in LS2) (payment will just fall into 2018)
Will be installed in parallel to existing Sf6 gas filled cables for risk reduction reasons. Sf6 Tx cables to be decommissioned after successful RG-220 Tx-line commissioning.
Needs new magnet connection/entry box ( KFA-71/MTE like)
80kV SF6 gas filled cable spares for PFL
Finally one company found willing to do a replica of the cable.
However expensive (~ 1 Mio for all KFA-45 cables; CERN carries full risk), Waiting for official offer (PE delayed -> no spending this year)
Launched search for SF6 gas free alternative:
Specification written.
PE launched (not closed yet, as 4th extension requested). -> no spending this year (~180kCHF was foreseen).

6. LIU-SPS: MKE improvements
MKE4 has been reconfigured for single extraction (like MKE6)
Magnet serigraphy on ferrite to be upgraded for 25ns bunches:
LSS4 : fully done during EYETS 2016/2017
LSS6 : 3 magnets upgraded, 1 conditioned, 2 waiting for conditioning, installation foreseen in YETS 2017/18
3 spare magnets do be done by LS2
MKE ACOND: (Spec. exists,), not available yet, using MKI cage to overcome bottleneck
PLAN #10838 #10841, other groups contribution declared / accepted
Potential conflict with crab cavity installation in BA6 to be clarified

7. LIU-SPS MKDV/H coaxial HV cables

Delivery in December unlikely -> changed order of installation
Additional testing at CERN foreseen once cable delivered

8. LIU-PS: PI.KFA-45: Magnets / Generator
Good progress on 2 GeV modifications during EYETS:
ECR approved
Short circuit thyratrons removed
TMR short circuited (will stay until LS2 for ev. rollback reasons)
Dephasing cables installed
Entry box extension installed
LC-filter installed
Commissioning and testing ongoing
Beam based measurements to be done.
