2. NE …. PAS
To make a sentence negative we have learned to use ne…pas (not)
Examples
Je n’ai pas un frère.
Tu ne danses pas.
In the passé composé, ne….pas goes around the helping verb not the past participle.
Je n’ai pas choisi la musique.
Il n’est pas allé au parc.

3. Other Negative Expressions
There are more ways to make a negative expression than just ne … pas (not).
In English other negative expressions are
No one
Never
No longer
Nothing …etc.

4. Other Negative expressions
Those same expressions can translate into French.
Ne … pas encore = not yet
Ne … jamais = never , not ever
Ne … plus = no more, no longer
Ne … rien = nothing, not anything
Ne … personne = no one , nobody
Just like using ne … pas, the ne goes before the verb (or helping verb in passé composé) and the pas / jamais/ plus etc goes after.

5. EXAMPLES Je n’ai pas encore acheté le cadeau.
I haven’t yet bought the gift.
Je n’achète jamais de cadeau.
I never buy gifts.
Je n’achète plus de cadeau.
I no longer buy gifts.
Je ne fais rien.
I not doing anything / I’m doing nothing
Je ne vois personne.
I don’t see anyone / I see no one.

6. Negative Expressions
You can use many negative expressions without a complete sentence.
When doing this use only the second part of the expression with out the word ne.
Example:
Qu’est-ce que ta tante fait pour t’aider? – Rien.
What’s your aunt doing to help you? - Nothing
Tu vois quelqu’un? – Non personne.
Do you see some one? – No, no one.
