Constant current charging circuit for power pulsing
J.P. Martin, UdeM, Power pulsing workshop, Orsay, May 11, 2011
2
Typical approaches for power pulsing, (power delivery aspect)
Use local storage capacitors, near the point of power dissipassion. - Add linear voltage regulators or DC/DC converters when required - Switch off the load, not the power supply voltage (power down/sleep logic of devices ) in order to keep the bypass/filter capacitor charged. - Use a constant current storage capacitor charging circuit J.P. Martin, UdeM, Power pulsing workshop, Orsay, May 11, 2011
3
Neglected aspect: the power feed
Suggestion: Use a constant current charging circuit for the storage capacitors: Charging current adjusted to the average current Maximum feed current << load peak current DC like power feed (no mechanical vibration) J.P. Martin, UdeM, Power pulsing workshop, Orsay, May 11, 2011
