2 OBJECTIVES: To discuss about the basic roles and responsibilities of DSc's To give update on SMC safety management programs and activities To introduce the EHS Dashboard

3 Who is Departmental safety coordinator?
A Department representative is appointed by the department head, to serve as Liaison to Environmental Health & Safety Department pertaining to safety issues in their respective departments and also as EHS Department’s contact person in the implementation of SMC safety programs and activities.

5 It is a CBAHI Standard Requirement
FMS.2 There is a qualified individual(s) responsible for directing and coordinating the facility management and safety program. FMS.2.5 Each department has an assigned "liaison safety officer" to liaise all safety issues within the department. FMS.14.2 Each department has a current list of hazardous materials used in the department. The list covers: FMS The responsible person

6 Basic Roles & Responsibilities of DSC’s
To serve as a link between EHS office & Respective departments / units. To help the department heads in monitoring staff compliance on the safety policies and procedures. To coordinate with EHS Department for the following: Unit fire drills & other mega code drills To report Incidents / Hazards Hazard surveillance inspections To update MSDS & chemical inventory etc. Participate in incident investigation that occurred in their respective units.

7 Continue.. Monitoring the staff attendance to the mandatory safety orientations including annual refresher re- orientation programs. Coordinate with Training & Education and EHS for the staff those who missed to attend any session. Attend the education and training programs of EHS dept. Report all safety related incidents / hazards to QMD & EHS

8 Continue… Assist Dept. Head / Managers / Supervisors for incident / accident investigation and document as well as reporting to QMD. Communicate identified hazards, precautions and required corrective actions to your unit / dept. Assist your department head in developing departmental safety policies, plans and programs.

21 Departmental Internal Disaster Plan: DSC’s Roles & Responsibilities
Assist Department head / manager to implement internal disaster plan in the unit / department. Coordinate with EHS Department to conduct internal emergency drills. Manage the hazardous materials inventory list of the department and being trained on hazmat plan by EHS. Familiar with the procedures on how to manage hazardous materials spills by using spill kits. Ensure departmental / unit staff are trained on SMC Emergency Codes and attend drills.
