Dressing up as sea creatures. Make leaflets on caring for sea creatures. Following and creating instructions. Labelling contents of a rock pool. Recording class visits Small world play Descriptions of sea creatures- 'What am I?' Focus books: Commotion in the Ocean, Tiddler, Sally and the Limpet, The Rainbow Fish and Sharing a Shell. Personal, Social and Emotional Development: Role play areas RE unit 'Story Time' encouraging the children to think about honesty, kindness to others, modesty, etc. through religious tales SEAL unit 'Good to be Me' developing children’s self-awareness, managing feelings and empathy Circle time Stories and songs Understanding the World Using maps and atlases to find out where the oceans are. Finding our nearest beach Looking at the differences between Downton and the seaside Finding out about sea creatures Making a collection of words to describe sea creatures.
