To prepare for our visit and to be familiar with our chosen story we will need to practice role playing.

5. A few tips… The fish of Maui: notes
Your chosen story can be a myth, legend, fairytale or non-fiction story. When performed it should be no longer than 10mins.
Narrator:
And what a fish it was! His tail stretched away to the north and his head lay far in the south.
Make sure everyone has a role to play, no matter how big or small. Select people to narrate the story while others perform.
Maui:
I must get my hook! Do not touch him while I am gone. He is smooth and flat and I do not want him damaged.
Having the story written (or printed) on paper while performing can help us remember our roles. We can bring these along when we role play at
Te Tuhi.
Narrator:
But the moment Maui was out of sight his brothers began to hack out their share. For after all hadn’t they helped with the paddling? The great fish writhed in agony as the paddle blades sliced into his flesh.
A few tips…
Most importantly, have fun! And work together to help tell our chosen story.
