Direction of the Tsunami Earthquake
The red wave was very strong wave and fortunately Myanmar was slightly effected by pink wave.

Why Myanmar was less affected (2)
The south was protected from the full impact of the tsunami by numerous offshore islands (Myeik archipelago) It was full moon on 26 December resulting in many people not out on the sea for fishing It was low tide at the time of the tsunami resulting in less impact Population density in the areas hit were low

State / Division Disaster Preparedness, Relief and Resettlement Committee
Chairman Deputy Commander or Chairman of State / Division Peace and Development Council Secretary S/D Director Fire Services Department Duties and Responsibilities To draw state / divisional plan for disaster preparedness and relief and draw distinct / township plans in line with State/Division plan. Formulation of disaster preparedness plan and preventive measures. To form distinct / township disaster preparedness, relief and resettlement committee and subcommittees and also form committee at ward and village tract level.

Chairman Secretary of State / Division Peace and Development Council Secretary S/D Director Social Welfare Department Duties and Responsibilities To implement preparedness and prevention activities as planned by State/Division working committee. To monitor planned activities actually implemented in case of emergency and prepare activities schedules to be forwarded to high authorities. -To co-ordinate and communicate with township working committee in disaster prevention and preparedness. - To supervise and assist township working committee. - To assign 24 hours duty to disseminate and receive MRTV news or announcement on meteorology / Hydrology information in case of impending disaster.

Prof. Mya Oo, Deputy Minister for Health, went to Latbutta township,
Ayeyarwaddy Division which was the most affected area and supervised post disaster management and gave necessary assistance

Ayeyarwaddy Division Peace and Development Council Chairman, Southwest Command Commander, Maj. Gen.Soe Naing, Minister for Social Welfare Relief and Resettlement Maj. Gen. Sein Htwa, Acting Director General, Department of Health, Dr.Tin Win Maung and Team visited the disaster hit area along Southern coastal strips in Ayeyarwaddy Division by helicopter. :30 PM

Access to the affected area was very difficult and the team members, had to use motorcycles to get there.

The team met the disaster victims in Htanbingone villages, PyinSalu township and explained about the assistance to be rendered by the state

Next the team presented clothes, food, drugs and necessary items
Next the team presented clothes, food, drugs and necessary items. The disaster killed (17) people, most were children and destroyed some temporary huts along the coastal area.

They also visited Pyinsalu township hospital
They also visited Pyinsalu township hospital. (11) victims were admitted to the hospital. This mother and her 3 months old baby were hit by the tidal waves and swept away. The baby was totally buried in the sand sand and the Health Team led by Dr. Yin Yin Aye searched and resuscitated the baby. Both have recovered.

Then the Team visited Kwinpauk and Kyaukkalat village, they met the victims and provided necessary assistance. The disaster destroyed some houses along the coast killing (10) peoples from that area. at 8:35 AM

Co Co Kyun Traditional customs may save people from dying. Many people from Co Co Kyun were saved by their traditional custom. Every Full moon day, due to the rise of the waves, nobody went to the sea for fishing. Fortunately, 26 December was full moon day and everybody stayed in their homes. Seismic gap or end point - subduction zone is near Cocogyun. Water level was unexpectedly lowered down to (6)ft. from normal level.

Ohn Myint made arrangements on relief and resettlement to be carried out for victims of tidal waves triggered by a strong earthquake.

This is another village Kan Po MarTan villages. (15) household were damaged killing (5) people. Some local bridges were also destroyed by the tidal wave. The tidal wave reach up to this level.
