3 National clinical data standards will:
Support direct patient care being informed by prevailing best practice guidance Facilitate effective communication between health care professionals Incorporate agreed national clinical definitions and implement national terminology

4 HEIGHT Definition: Height in metres - measured without shoes
Format: n.nn metres (to the nearest centimetre) Codes and values: N/A Sub data items: Verification level 0 Unverified 1 Verified Further information: If height cannot be measured, record recently documented or self-reported height (if reliable and realistic) as ‘unverified’. In certain groups or diseases, measurement of height may not be straightforward, e.g. infants, wheel chair/ bed bound, scoliosis, kyphosis. Guidance for such specific circumstances will be included in specialist data standards as appropriate.

Stroke programme launched on 22 February 2005 1. Stroke Core Data Standards Now in final stages Consultation early December for 5 weeks 2. Stroke Inpatients Dataset 1st ‘extension’ to stroke core standards Finalised data items Encompasses the stroke core standards More specific piece of work – a particular area of stroke care

Implementation? Implementation of the data standards after their development is an integral part of the e-Health programme in Scotland Anticipate that implementation will take place through Generic Clinical System facilitated by the CHD and Stroke Programme
