Improving Mt. Airy 2nd Grade Students
AT or ABOVE the Benchmark for DORF Words Correct Per Minute Reading Station ______________________
2
BACKGROUND My students took DIBELS assessment in Fall. These were the DORF measure results. The majority of my two classes were BELOW or WELL BELOW the Benchmark of 52 words correct per minute (wcpm). By winter Benchmark students need to read 72 wcpm to be AT or ABOVE the Benchmark. Adopting an idea from another CPS QI Pioneer (power of our “All Teach, All Learn” weekly Huddle) I began testing a PDSA to increase my students’ fluency! 2017 Taylor Grade 2 Fall Benchmark Data from DIBELS.net

Measure: Increase # of students (n = 21) reading between wcpm on DIBELS DORF benchmark who increase at least wcpm on weekly Cold to Hot Reads for 3 out of 4 times out of a 8 week period! Results: PDSA Test Period from 10/23/17 – 12/6/17 Results | Will adapt TEST for future cycles After 5 weeks, 86% (18 of 21) students achieved at least wcpm on their Cold to Hot Reads!!! I will include more students in the next cycle.
