MAIN OBJECTIVES To increase professionalism and competence amongst Natural Scientists To protect the community against incompetent practitioners To gain international recognition for South African Natural Scientists To ensure the highest quality of training in the Natural Sciences To Represent ALL practitioners within the Natural Scientific Profession Natural Scientific Professions ACT of 2003

EDUCATIONAL MATTERS New Act defines the new role of SACNASP in the Higher Education sector Advise institutions regarding the training of Natural Scientists Collaborate with HEQC with regard to accreditation of Educational Programmes at Universities Many local and foreign qualifications have been evaluated for registration purposes Natural Scientific Professions ACT of 2003

Financial situation improved substantially over last year Mainly due to increased number of registrations Increase in annual fees kept at 6% but it is still the lowest compared to other Councils Reserve fund was established to make provision for legal costs Natural Scientific Professions ACT of 2003
