1 Key results and findings
Members Survey 2017 Key results and findings

2 2017 membership survey overview
10 questions were sent to 667 Kairos and 597 FOSUK members. Members were given 7 weeks to complete the survey and several reminders were sent 188 responses were received – approximately 14% of membership which was considered very good! Analysis of the responses was carried out by a representative groups of 6 people.

3 Overview of key areas

4 Name for new partnership

5 Some key considerations regarding a new name
25% of people suggested something new entirely, preferably with the word ‘Palestine’ and ‘Christian’ in Concerns that neither ‘Sabeel’ nor ‘Kairos’ mean anything to the average Church goer! We will think some more about a new name and take into consideration the above.

6 Annual Subscription fees

7 Annual fees FOSUK already implements a yearly subscription charge (£30 waged/£18 unwaged) 89% of both memberships supported the introduction/continuation of this. Questions about this included: Raising the rate, which was considered quite low by some Bringing in a group rate for Kairos Communities and FOSUK regional groups Allowing options for those that really can’t afford it to still join

8 Deeper analysis – drawing out themes
In addition to the quantitative answers we received, we also asked people to reflect on: Areas of work they wanted us to retain and keep doing News areas of work to take up What our priorities should be for the coming 2-3 years

9 Results: Areas of work to retain
Information and Education – of Churches and Christians in particular Advocacy, Campaigning and BDS Prayer and Theology Support for Kairos Communities / FOSUK Regional groups Links and solidarity with Sabeel/Kairos in Palestine.

10 Results: New areas of work
More campaigning and lobbying work Challenging Zionism and the current antisemitism debate More links with other groups, in particular Jewish groups Working with young people more Fundraising Presence at Christian festivals and events

11 Results: Suggested priorities for next 2-3 years
BDS – specifically the Morally Responsible Investment Campaign Anti-Zionism and Anti-Semitism Education and Information Clarification and ‘bedding in’ of new organisation structure and remit Keeping an ear to the ground and direct engagement with Palestinians

12 Challenges Ageing membership Capacity
Many responders not able to help or support more due to age, lack of mobility, health issues, and other age-related issues. Capacity Those involved are also involved in many other groups, are too busy to take on more, have other priorities Support of Communities/Regional groups It is clear that our KC’s and FOSUK RG’s need more support and nurturing. We will be closely considering how we can do this in the coming months.

13 Next Steps Kairos Britain and FOSUK members came together on 15th November in Birmingham to discuss the convergence of the two organisations in more detail. Together with the survey results, the ideas generated at that meeting will inform the writing of a two-year strategic plan which we hope to launch in the first quarter of 2018.
