27 DISCUSS! Compare and contrast the documents in your groups. How does voter suppression seem to manifest itself today?

28 Republican election state officials deliberately close polling places in Democratic districts throughout the state. Because of the long lines, it discourages voters to come out and vote!

29 Voter ID Rules tend to disproportionately affect minorities for the following reasons:
They live in urban areas and do not need to drive They move across state lines more frequently They are unfairly arrested for minor crimes resulting in unpaid fines and suspended licenses

30 Trump supporters planned to suppress voters (specifically minorities) in the 2016 election.

31 And, more recently...

32 In 2016, North Carolina allowed any voter to challenge another county resident’s registration!
As a result, almost 4,000 voters were purged from the rolls. A federal judge mandated that the purged voters were returned to the rolls.

33 200,000 Brooklyn voters were purged from the rolls for not voting since 2008!
Minorities populations in Brooklyn were unfairly targeted. The Board of Elections admitted wrongdoing and recently settled the matter in a lawsuit brought against them by Common Cause.
