4 What should you bring? Two #2 pencils with an eraser
No mechanical pencils will be allowed Calculator WILL BE PROVIDED Student ID

5 Where Do I Report to? Classroom assignments will be posted in the hallways on for all students. Your advisory teacher will also have a list.

6 ON PSAT TEST DAY All student belongings will be placed in the front of the testing room. Students will not be allowed to have cell phones, iPods, water bottles, or any other items in the testing room. NO CELL PHONES – No Electronic Devices-YOU WILL NEED TO SHOW YOUR TEACHER THEY ARE OFF AND PLACE AT FRONT OF CLASS WITH OTHER BELONGINGS Eat a good breakfast. There will be no food or drinks allowed in the testing rooms. Students will not be allowed to go to lockers or leave the building during testing.

8 Inside the PSAT 8/9 The PSAT 8/9 is a test that will help you and your teachers figure out what you need to work on most so that you’re ready for college when you graduate from high school. It tests the same skills and knowledge as the SAT, PSAT/NMSQT, and PSAT 10 — in a way that makes sense for your grade level.

2 hours and 25 minutes total plus 5 min breaksThis is a timed test, including 5 minute breaks between contents Times will be strictly adhered to This is a practice, so just do your best and remember “how you practice is how you play”.

11 Reading Test 8th Grade = 55 Minutes
Quick Facts All Reading Test questions are multiple choice and based on passages. Some passages are paired with other passages. Informational graphics, such as tables, graphs, and charts, accompany some passages — but no math is required. Prior topic-specific knowledge is never tested. The Reading Test is part of the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section.

12 Writing and Language Test 8th = 30 Minutes
Quick Facts All questions are multiple choice and based on passages. Some passages are accompanied by informational graphics, such as tables, graphs, and charts — but no math is required. Prior topic knowledge is never tested. The Writing and Language Test is part of the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section.

13 Math Test 8th = 60 Minutes 20 min with no calculator 40 min with calculator
Most math questions will be multiple choice, but some — called grid-ins — ask you to come up with the answer rather than select the answer. The Math Test is divided into two portions: Math Test – Calculator and Math Test – No Calculator. Some parts of the test include several questions about a single scenario.

14 No Penalty for Guessing
On the new PSAT/NMSQT and PSAT 9, you simply earn points for the questions you answer correctly. So go ahead and give your best answer to every question — there’s no advantage to leaving them blank.
