Curtin and Brazil Health Sciences Science and Engineering
The Curtin Health Innovation Research Institute (CHIRI) collaborate with the University São Paulo and University Cruzeiro do Sul on research into ‘metabolic reprogramming’ in immune cells induced by dietary macronutrients, and the role of vitamin D in the promotion of muscle function and performance in humans undertaking exercise training. With Brazil just coming out of a severe drought that has affected many areas of the country over the past few years, it was timely that Associate Professor Joseph Awange from the Department of Spatial Sciences at Curtin University and his team of national and international researchers undertook research to study drought and rainfall patterns in that country. Business and Law Humanities Curtin has a strong cohort of business students from Brazil. Our graduates create invaluable industry links throughout their degree We have recently had professors from Curtin hold seminars on the areas of built environment (architecture) at UFMG (Federal University of Minas Gerais), Fundação João Pinheiro (João Pinheiro Foundation) and PUC (Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro)

Advantages of studying at Curtin
Curtin has a history of innovation. Our industry partnerships have ensured that we are consistently offering relevant and innovative courses. With Brazil considered as one of the most entrepreneurial countries in the world, many of our Curtin Business School courses will appeal to Brazilian Students. Our new, Australian first of its name, Master of International Business and Entrepreneurship has had significant interest from the region. The course, which is the first course in Australia offered with this name, has a focus on tech-innovation in addition to strong industry and professional links with multinational businesses, providing the student with invaluable knowledge and experiences to advance their career. In addition to this the Curtin VC, DVCI and DVCR met with the Latin American (LATAM) Ambassadors to Australia at the end of September in Canberra. The Ambassadors received information that showcased Curtin’s strengths and research priorities, specifically in the mining and engineering disciplines which are also priority areas for development in their countries. We look forward to working with them in the future.
