1. Where does the initiative stand? Almost half way through first 1000 days… • There has been progress in SDG implementation • But speed of progress needs to be stepped up • Slower take up at local level • Some programmes seeking to help with this

2. Examples of what cities are doing
• Mapping assessments of targets and indicators (e.g. Medellin c.70% of indicators for relevant SDGs) • Implementation plans (e.g. Medellin holding consultations with wider stakeholders this year) “The SDGs provide an opportunity to inform policy & priorities using evidence rather than short-term political interests” Interview with local government official

• 2018: opportunity as countries report on SDG 11 Raising awareness/exchanging knowledge on early stages of implementation from members’ work • Provide examples of good practice/evidence on key issues for implementers
