Cloud Computing in Japan
●METI (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) ●MIC (Ministry of internal affairs and communications) ■JCC (Japan Cloud Consortium) : Promotion of Cloud Computing services, development of applicable area of cloud computing Report on how Cloud was used after March 11 disaster ■GICTF (Global Inter-Cloud Technology Forum): Development of Inter-Cloud use case, requirement, API interface

Establishment of Cloud Computing AG
Advisory Group does not have competence to develop TTC standards but has a mission to provide advice to TTC planning and strategy committee (ToR) information sharing of cloud computing standardization activities, e.g. NIST, ITU-T FG Cloud, DMTF, ISO/IEC JTC1 SC38, IEEE P2301™,P2302 ™ prepare proposal to TTC planning and strategy committee by March 2012 how TTC should tackle Cloud Computing in the future, e.g., standardization items, formation of new working group, etc. discuss and check company contributions to ITU-T FG Cloud meeting and share the meeting results promotion activities (seminar or workshop on cloud computing) close liaison with GICTF

Strategic Direction In the past years virtualization technologies are standardized in various forums, e, g. DMTF, SNIA, OGF. In May 2010 ITU-T established Focus Group on Cloud Computing and tasked it to prepare proposal how ITU-T should tackle Cloud Computing related study to January 2012 TSAG meeting. ISO/IEC JTC1 SC38 SGCC was established in May 2010 and developed the final report in September 2011, proposing to transform SG into new WG3 and develop terminology and architecture standard. DMTF and SNIA submitted application for ISO/IEC JTC1 PAS Submitter Status in September 2011. In November 2010 NIST has established 5 working group to develop guideline for US Federal Agencies to introduce cloud computing. The objectives are set to realize transportability, interoperability and security. The final report is expected in November 2011.
6
Challenges Although Cloud Services are realized by both IT and Telecom technologies, standardization efforts from telecommunication perspectives have not been well undertaken yet, Present TTC member does not include either IT vendors or Cloud Service Providers, Close collaboration between IT and Telecom sectors is required to develop open cloud computing specification to realize portability, interoperability and security.
7
Next Steps / Actions PSOs are encouraged to participate in ITU-T FG Cloud meeting to discuss future global standardization framework on cloud computing. PSOs are encouraged to cooperate with each other and join the various global standardization initiatives.

Proposed Resolution TTC proposes to add the following descriptions to the present resolution Considering: In the past years virtualization technologies are standardized in various forums, e, g. DMTF, SNIA, OGF, In May 2010 ITU-T established Focus Group on Cloud Computing and tasked it to prepare proposal how ITU-T should tackle Cloud Computing related study to January 2012 TSAG meeting, After the closure of FG, the next TSAG, January 2012, will determine future study structure in ITU-T and collaboration framework with relevant SDOs and Forums, ISO/IEC JTC1 SC38 SGCC was established in May 2010 and developed the final report in September 2011, proposing to transform SG into new WG3 and develop terminology and architecture standard.
