From May 2015 to April 2017 a team of over 120 experts from Latin America and the Caribbean conducted a regional Assessment of the state and trends of the environment

Latin America and the Caribbean continue to face significant environmental challenges, including the rapid loss of natural ecosystems, widespread pollution, and unsustainable patterns of consumption and production.

Poverty, inequality and the huge gaps between urban and rural communities still are a major issue in Latin America and the Caribbean
