Choosing a strong quote to support your text
Choose 1-2 sentences with strong language. Example: “Old Marley was as dead as a door-nail. Mind! I don't mean to say that I know, of my own knowledge, what there is particularly dead about a door-nail.” ( A Christmas Carol) Focus on author’s use of figurative language. Example: “Mr. Ewell had a scalded look; as if an overnight soaking had deprived him of protective layers of dirt.” ( To Kill A Mockingbird) Choose a quote that shows a pivotal moment Example: “From an early age I knew I had a lust to kill.” ( And Then There Were None) Choose a quote that you cannot state better yourself Example: “Laugh as much as you choose, but you will not laugh me out of my opinion.” ( Pride and Prejudice)
