Simple Hard Things Week 3: Hebrews 13:5-6, 16 5 Your life should be free from the love of money. Be satisfied with what you have, for God Himself has said, “I will never leave you or forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6) 6 Therefore we may boldly say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” (Psalm 118:6) 16 Don’t neglect to do what is good and to share, for God is pleased with such sacrifices.

financially generous toward His work (mission).

7 God wants every Christian to be
financially generous toward His work (mission). Level 1: Obedience and a good heart/attitude. God is most pleased when we obey and our heart is “in it.” Each person should do as he has decided in his heart – not reluctantly or out of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7

financially generous toward His work (mission). Level 1: Obedience and a good heart/attitude. God is most pleased when we obey and our heart is “in it.” Level 2: Obedience and a “bad” heart/attitude. God is pleased when we obey even when our heart isn’t “in it.” On the first day of the week, each of you is to set something aside in keeping with how he prospers, so that no collections will need to be made when I come. 1 Corinthians 16:1-2

9 God wants every Christian to be
financially generous toward His work (mission). Level 1: Obedience and a good heart/attitude. God is most pleased when we obey and our heart is “in it.” Level 2: Obedience and a “bad” heart/attitude. God is pleased when we obey even when our heart isn’t “in it.” Level 3: Disobedience and a bad heart/attitude. God is displeased when we disobey AND our heart posture is bad.

Is our giving to God, regardless of the amount, first priority (non-negotiable)?

Is our giving to God, regardless of the amount, first priority (non-negotiable)? Are we giving 10% (or working toward the goal of giving 10%)?

12 Am I a financially generous person?
Is our giving to God, regardless of the amount, first priority (non-negotiable)? Are we giving 10% (or working toward the goal of giving 10%)? Are we giving sacrificially?
