3 Personal Fitness “Personal” is the key word in this course.
It is designed to help you look good and feel good about yourself.

4 Self Concept One of the biggest factors which determines your self-concept is your body. Unfortunately, many teenagers are in poor condition.

5 Physical Fitness You are physically fit when you are able to carry out daily tasks without undue fatigue, handle emergency situations, and have enough energy to enjoy leisure-time pursuits. In regard to physical fitness, body weight can be misleading.

6 Risk Factor Checklist Can control-inactivity, obesity, high blood pressure, cholesterol, stress and tension, smoking. Cannot control- gender, heredity, age. You can improve your health by controlling the first 7 risk factors.

Improved Appearance and body image. Muscular strength (Most teen want a strong, healthy body.) Flexibility-V-sit or Sit and Reach Test Cardiovascular Fitness-Mile run or bench step test Muscular strength-push ups or pull ups Muscular endurance- sit ups Body Composition Electrical impedance Triceps and calf skin-fold test Underwater weighing

Determine present level of fitness Monitor your own progress Determine the effectiveness of your program Evaluate and update your goals
