People that are related by blood or law. They consist of the same ancestors.

Ophelia: Ophelia has a very strict father and no mother. Her brother, Laertes is also not around much.
Hamlet: Hamlet recently lost his father and his mother married his uncle. He becomes fairly distant from his mother.
Laertes: His father was killed by Hamlet. His sister(Ophelia) kills herself. Laertes then seeks revenge for her death by plotting to kill Hamlet.

Polonius warning Ophelia to stay away from Hamlet, this is an example of how Polonius protects his family
When Laertes wants to seek revenge for his family when his father, Polonius is killed by Hamlet and his sister, Ophelia killing herself
