Welcome to Equipment & Environment part of the Skype For Business training package created by IT Services at Cornwall College Start Keep an eye out for the arrows to progress

2 There are a few options, so lets take a look...
You will need some equipment to run a meeting or use Skype for Business for audio/video calls There are a few options, so lets take a look... These options include using Skype For Business when you are the only person at your computer and also when there are more than one of you at your computer Next

3 Microsoft recommend you use a USB connected set of headphones.
Using Skype For Business on your own Microsoft recommend you use a USB connected set of headphones. Some usb headsets will come with an integrated Microphone, this is fine. Make sure you check our "Checking your audio and video settings" help package Using a headset microphone, this will only be suitable for one person at your end. It is not suitable for a multiple people, we will cover that in a moment. Approx. £20 Next

4 A webcam isn't essential but it does enhance the experience.
Using Skype For Business on your own A webcam isn't essential but it does enhance the experience. If a webcam works with your computer, it will work with Skype for Business. Have a look at our "Checking your audio and video settings" help package Approx. £30 Next

5 You can use the integrated webcam and microphone on laptops/webcams.
Using Skype For Business on your own You can use the integrated webcam and microphone on laptops/webcams. Be very aware that these microphones are sensitive and if you are in a noisy office the background noise may affect your meeting. Next

6 We recommend you use a USB connected microphone.
More than just you at your computer We recommend you use a USB connected microphone. The microphone you use needs to be suitable for the number of people at your computer. For meetings of more than two people please have a chat with your local IT Services team or Learning Centre An integrated microphone in a laptop or webcam will not be suitable for a meeting of more than two people. 7 You will need to use a set of speakers
More than just you at your computer You will need to use a set of speakers Some rooms will have speakers already installed and connected to the computer. If your room doesn't please contact IT Services in good time before your meeting. To make sure your computer is setup properly, please work through the "Checking your audio and video settings“ help package Next

8 More than just you at your computer
The webcam you use needs to be suitable for the room you are using and the number of people you have in the room. A basic webcam which sits on top of your monitor will not be suitable for a meeting of more than two people. The College have a number of Connected Classrooms and boardroom setups which will be better suited. Next
