From: Repair With Collagen Tubules Linked With Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor and Ciliary Neurotrophic Factor in a Rat Sciatic Nerve Injury Model Arch Otolaryngol Head Neck Surg. 1998;124(7): doi: /archotol Figure Legend: Setup for electrophysiologic studies. The animals were placed in a prone position to provide exposure to the repaired nerve and to the contralateral gluteal musculature. Stimulating electrodes and recording electrodes were placed into the animal. Measurements of the nerve conduction velocity at the repair site and the total population of conducting axons were then made. Functional analysis of neural regeneration was assessed at 10-day intervals from postoperative day 10 to 90 using walking track analysis. Measurements made from walking track prints were then submitted to a sciatic functional index (SFI). CT indicates collagen tubules; BDNF, brain-derived neurotrophic factor; and CNTF, ciliary neurotrophic factor. Date of download: 12/27/2017 Copyright © 1998 American Medical Association.
