Thesis The French’s caution in the Second Battle of Marne exemplifies strategic planning over brute force as the supremacy of the German army could not overcome the wit of the Allied Powers, leading to a series of Allied victories.

Decided that attack of the French in the Flanders region was the best route to a German victory Last German Offensive Decided to target Marne instead of Flanders so that he could drag people away from Flanders

BASIC DETAILED Germans final offensive push of World War 1 Ended in several days, major victory for the Allies Germans believed attack in Flanders would insure victory; a diversion was set up south of France July 15, Germans launch dual attack to divide French and American forces After initial bombardment, Germans find out French set up false trenches French were left virtually untouched! Germans met with French and American barrage, suffered heavy casualties
