1 Undergraduate Student Representative
AESS Board of Governors Meeting May 12-13, 2017 Seattle, WA Garrett Hall Undergraduate Student Representative, AESS

2 Objectives What are our long term strategic objectives?
Current – Increase student participation through Mentoring and Networking Program New – Increase student participation through conference events Student Jobs/Internships Local Chapter and Student Branch Integration If a conference has an impact on the student’s career, they are likely to return. Creates brand loyalty. Discuss how student chapters are unstable. Involving local chapters can assist in generating stability. It also gives them a breath of fresh air. Focus is understanding the customer needs and working backwards to develop programs based on this. You don’t get people to join by forcing them to do things they don’t want to do. This includes all the rules and regulations required by universities to have a recognized student chapter. Model programs around: Selection, ease of use, and price We need to offer something exclusive to our engaged members. I suspect these ones are the ones who are more likely to stay members. 9/12/2018
