1 March 6, 2006 Shinhong Kim Workshop poster

2 Thank you very much for coming and joining this workshop.
welcome Welcome to Tsukuba ! Thank you very much for coming and joining this workshop. I hope that this workshop will be a fruitful step for the research program “Mass Origin and Supersymmetry Physics”.

3 “Mass Origin and Supersymmetry Physics” Grant in Aid for Scientific Research in Priority Areas Research period: April 2001 ~ March 2006 Purpose of this Research Program Pursue the answers to the following questions: Why does the matter have its mass ? What kind of physics law gives the mass of the matter ? 〇 Search for the Higgs particle, the mass origin. Proton Antiproton collision experiment at highest energy ( CDF experiment) 〇 Search for deviation from the Standard Model prediction, New Physics such as SUSY. Precise measurement with factory accelerators ( top, B, tau, K factories) 〇 Research and development for next-generation accelerator experiments. ( LHC, ILC,J-PARC,SuperB) 〇 Theoretical studies closely related to these experimental studies.

4 Research organization in this priority area
Research program WEB pages Research Subjects A01 Search for Higgs particle in high energy proton-antiproton collisions CDF experiment Shinhong Kim, University of Tsukuba A02 Search for mass origins using B-Factory BELLE experiment Hiroaki Aihara, University of Tokyo A03 Tau lepton physics BELLE experiment Takayoshi Ohshima, Nagoya University A04 Search for K0→π0ννrare decay using K-factory KEK-E391a, J-PARC Taku Yamanaka, Osaka University A05 Measurement of rare decays of K0 and K± BNL-E949, KOPIO Shojiro Sugimoto, KEK IPNS A06 Phenomenological studies on Higgs sector and SUSY dynamics Theory Ken-ichi Hikasa, Tohoku University

5 A01:Indirect Search for Higgs Particle by Precise Measurement of the Top Mass and W Boson Mass
Top Mass (Tevatron Run I+II) : Mtop = 172.7± 2.9 GeV/c2 W Boson Mass(LEP2+Tevatron): MW = ± GeV/c2 MHiggs = / -32 GeV/c2 MHiggs < 186 GeV/c2 @95%CL RunⅡ 2 fb-1(~end of 2006): ΔMtop ~ 2 GeV/c2 ΔMW ~ 30 MeV/c2 → ΔMHiggs ~ 20-30%

6 A02: Search for New Physics via B Meson Decay
b →d penguins: Sensitive to new physics such as SUSY or charged Higgs. First Obeservation : 35 signal events B→ρ(ω)γ 30 signal events B→K K out of 390 M pairs

7 Status and Plan Each research program has made progress and produced great physics results during this research period. Precise measurement of top quark mass as an indirect search for Higgs particle. Observation of b → d penguin decay. Search for tau lepton rare decay. K rare decay using K-factory. Theoretical studies related to the above experimental studies. Final report of this research is planned to be completed in this summer. This workshop will be an important step for completing the final report.
