Christmas food Here's a short list of foods typically found on the Polish Christmas Eve table: borsch with mushroom, herring in oil, pickled herring, carp aspic, fried carp, dried-fruit compote, noodles with poppy seeds, dumplings traditionally with cabbage and mushrooms, salt, pepper, bread.

When the first star appears in the sky, the Christmas tree is lit and the dinner begins. The Christmas Eve meal starts with a prayer and the sharing of the wafer. Poles love to sing carols at the Christmas table.

Christmas Eve Holy Mass
Traditional Holy Mass is celebrated on the night of 24 to 25 December. And churches are usually full.

Christmas Days the Poles, is spent with the family at home.
It is family time. Cheerful and pleasant. Family visited churches. There are beautiful cribs.

CAROLES Children go from door to door and sing Christmas carols. Dressed in special costumes - King Herod, an angel, a devil, death, shepherds and the Three Kings. Songs tell stories about the birth of Jesus.
