Appalachian Festival of Young Voices Overview
The Appalachian Festival of Young Voices in Charleston, West Virginia provides the developing singers of CCGC’s Chorale the opportunity to participate in an intense musical immersion with like-minded choirs from across the country. Singers participate in master classes, group musical and cultural activities, as well as performances – in this prestigious festival which only takes place every other year. Mrs. Davis, our choir director, travels and actively participates with the girls.

Q&A Session with Dr. Dilworth and singer/songwriter Ron Sowell Square dancing with a live band and storytelling with a West Virginia artist

Appalachian Festival of Young Voices Rollo Dilworth
Rollo Dilworth is the chair of the music education and music therapy program at Temple University. Dr. Dilworth is one of the most sought after choral clinicians in the world. He has written more than 150 choral compositions as well as three books on choral warm-ups. He has worked with CCGC Chorale at prior festivals and we are attending this year’s festival at the invitation of Dr. Dilworth and the festival staff.

Appalachian Festival of Young Voices Cultural Experience
The Festival immerses participants into the music, storytelling and culture of the Appalachian Mountains. One of the goals of the Festival is to preserve the wonderful history and culture of Appalachia and share it with choirs across the nation.

Appalachian Festival of Young Voices Accommodations
Embassy Suites, Charleston, WV Girls stay four (4) to a room and share a bed with another singer Breakfast is included

Appalachian Festival of Young Voices Trip Costs
$850 which includes: Individual singer Festival fees ($650 per singer) Choir Fees Tour Bus Transportation to and from Charleston, WV Eight meals (four breakfasts, one lunch and three dinners) Four (4) night hotel stay Workshops, performances, art festival and social activities Additional costs: 2 lunches, 1 dinner and souvenirs

Appalachian Festival of Young Voices Fee Schedule
$300 – Due January 22, 2018 $ Due February 19, 2018 $250 – Due March 12, 2018 Trip Form and 1st check by January 22, 2018. Checks should be made out to CCGC.

The number of girls and staff travelling determines number of chaperones needed Chaperones are selected from those indicating interest Chaperoning is a full-time obligation for the duration of the trip Chaperones must have a background check Chaperones are compensated for 50% of the trip costs* (based on quad occupancy) *Pending CCGC board approval
