1 What is Word Power? Each day, I will show you a vocabulary cartoon that has a memory aid. It will help you associate what you are trying to remember with something you already know. These words are meant to prepare you for taking the SATs (Scholastic Aptitude Test) in high school. Write your name and the date at the top of your paper.

2 What is Word Power? Each cartoon consists of:
Main Word – the word you are learning the meaning of. Pronunciation – how to say the word Definition – what the word means Link Word – a simple word that rhymes with the main word. Caption – the description linking the main word and link word Cartoon – a visual of both words Sample Sentences – these use the word in different contexts

7 Get started right away:
1st period – Finish POS worksheet. Finish collage. 4th period – Turn in POS worksheet. Finish collage. 5th period – Turn in POS worksheet. Finish collage. 6th period – Turn in POS worksheet. Finish collage. HW: Collage must be finished & shared Monday. If it’s not here, you will be completing it during lunch with me.

8 Collage Requirements:
Must be colorful, and I mean colorful! Must have eight pictures Must be creative Must have your name on it Name needs to be on binder spine No spelling, grammar errors Write a sentence for each picture on the back, explaining why the picture is important to you.

9 If you finish early: Answer this writing prompt in at least half a page. Underline each adjective you use. Think about your definition of summer. Describe that exact moment when you know summer is here (or when it’s over). Describe how that moment looks, smells, feels, etc. Put me in the moment!!!!
