Shooting at West Bank crossing
2
Three Israelis have been killed in a shooting attack on Tuesday morning at a crossing between Israel and the West Bank. The attacker came to the back gate of the settlement -- which is opened every morning to allow Palestinians to enter Israel for work -- and opened fire on security forces there with a pistol. Two Israeli security guards and one border policeman were killed. The shooter was apparently not affiliated with any terrorist organizations. Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed the home of the attacker would be demolished and that work permits for members of his family would be revoked. The attacker, a 37-year-old Palestinian man, was killed by police. The attack came just days before the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur. The attack is one of many throughout the years over the continued Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

In Other News The world's second-biggest diamond, a 1,109-carat uncut stone sold for $53 million in a private sale. The huge diamond was found in Botswana's Karowe mine nearly two years ago. It was named Lesedi La Rona, which means "Our Light" in Botswana's Tswana language. The only larger diamond previously unearthed was the 3,106-carat Cullinan Diamond, which was discovered in South Africa in The Cullinan was eventually cut into smaller stones, some of which are now part of British royal family's crown jewels. Rapper B.o.B. has started a GoFundMe campaign to find Earth's curve and see if our planet is actually round. Earth's curve is a big contention for flat Earthers, who argue that if the earth was round, the "curve" would be more visible to the earthbound human eye. B.o.B.'s campaign says the plan is to "launch multiple satellites into space" in order to observe, and try to disprove, what centuries of science and technology have already confirmed. He is seeking $200,000. He's titled his mission "Show BoB The Curve." By Monday afternoon it had $255. Over the last few years, the works of Aristotle and Galileo have come up against some people who believe the Earth is flat (even with endorsements by big-name celebrities such as like Kyrie Irving, Tila Tequila and Sammy Watkins). Between their Facebook and Twitter accounts, the Flat Earth Society has over 100,000 followers -- though a good portion of them appear to be there to poke fun at the whole thing.
