1 NI-sbRIO BASED PLATFORM FOR REAL TIME SPECTROSCOPY
9th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SEMICONDUCTOR MICRO- & NANOELECTRONICS May 25, 2013, YEREVAN NI-sbRIO BASED PLATFORM FOR REAL TIME SPECTROSCOPY David Pokhsraryan Hakob Margaryan Nune Hakobyan Tigran Sargsyan Petros Gasparyan David Hovhannisyan Hakob Chilingaryan Goal: Development of a device and technique for registration of intensities difference of right- and left-circularly polarized light beams (circular dichroism, CD) in fixed spectral range in real time. Main conclusions: Ready to use spectrometer for two channel NMOS sensor arrays is provided. The developed system allows determining the circular dichroism with accuracy better than 1mdegree.

2 The schematic of CD measuring
Hamamatsu S Q NMOS photodiode arrays designed specifically as a light sensors for multichannel spectroscopy are used. There are available two types of NMOS linear image sensors from Hamamatsu with “Current” and “Voltage” readout methods. General characteristics of used arrays: Wide active area pixel pitch: 25 µm (for S3903 series), and pixel height: 0.5 mm. - High sensitivity and stability in UV range. Low dark current and high saturation charge allow a long integration time and a wide dynamic range at room temperature. - Excellent output linearity, sensitivity, and spatial uniformity. - Lower power consumption: no more than1mW. Spectral range nm. Spectral sensitivity of S Q linear sensor

3 The block-diagram of driver circuit
The control signal generator produces various control pulses required for the image sensor and external signal processor. The video signal processor performs current-to-voltage conversion, differential amplification and then outputs the processed signal. By applying external supply voltages for digital and analog circuitry, and also master clock and master start pulses, this driver circuit provides a data video output, trigger pulse and end-of-scan (EOS) pulse.

4 The control signals generated by programmable logic device
By applying external supply voltages for digital and analog circuitry, and also master clock and master start pulses, this driver circuit provides a data video output, trigger pulse and end-of-scan (EOS) pulse. Linear silicon photodiode arrays based on NMOS technology offer excellent dynamic performance for applications in UV-VIS spectroscopy. These configurations are particularly useful for all types of high-precision process analysis, in which a reference channel has to be observed simultaneously. To achieve negligible time delay between two channels, the reference and sample channel measurements are interwoven: variations of the light source or other temperature effects can be effectively compensated.

5 The NI sbRIO-9633 embedded control and acquisition device integrates:
a real-time processor, a user-reconfigurable FPGA, I/O on a single printed circuit board (PCB). It features: 400 MHz industrial processor Xilinx Spartan-6 LX25 FPGA 16 single-ended 12-bit analog input channels at 500 kS/s four 12-bit analog output channels 28 digital I/O (DIO) lines operating temperature range: -40 to 85°C power supply input range: 9 to 30 VDC DRAM for embedded operation MB, nonvolatile memory for storing programs and data logging MB a built-in 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet port host built-in web (HTTP) and file (FTP) servers integrated USB, CAN, SDHC, RS232 serial, and RS485 serial ports SbRIO-9633 is designed to be easily embedded in high-volume applications that require flexibility, reliability, and high performance. NI Compact RIO systems are ideal for low- to medium- volume applications and rapid prototyping.
