STANDING IBRA Sculpture was obtained in Japan
This sculpture was made using a hollow dry lacquer technique This technique produced lightweight, portable statues that were easily moved from place to place The technique was only used in Japan for a period of about 100 years

SIMHAVAKTRA The Simhavaktra was created in the 18 century.
The word, translated, means “lion- faced” or “lion-headed” The creature depicted in the sculpture was thought to dwell in the realm of the sky This piece is very detailed for the time period it was sculpted in

SEATED BUDDHA This particular sculpture dates back to 338CE
Unearthed in China at a ruined temple Is currently one of the oldest pieces of art in the Asian Art Museum Related to the Buddhist religion

Reflection I really enjoyed researching a bit into this particular museum. I love Asian culture, as it is quite fascinating. My favorite piece from this project would have to be the Standing Ibra statue because of its unique method of creation. I also liked it because it is original to Japan, an exceptionally fascinating culture. This museum as a whole showcases several unique, antique, and original pieces of Asian-related pieces of art, which makes it pretty cool in my opinion. If I were ever to travel to San Francisco, I would love to visit this museum because it seems so cool.
