10. Introducing Hardware and Software: First the Hardware!
Hardware pertains to the physical parts that make up the Computer or Device.
Hardware can be both External and Internal
Internal Computer Parts are the brains and mechanisms that await orders from the software and user.
Most internal computer parts on a desktop or tower are “upgradable” or “replaceable”, making them desirable for home use.
Laptops, Phones, Tablets, GPS units etc are usually proprietary meaning what you buy is what you get the life of the device. Convenient not normally considered long lasting
External Computer Parts can be either for input or output. A mouse/keyboard would be input , A Monitor or Printer would be Output. These are usually referred to as Peripherals.

23. What is a Computer File System, What is a file?
In computing, a file system (or filesystem) is used to control how data is stored and retrieved. Without a file system, information placed in a storage area would be one large body of data with no way to tell where one piece of information stops and the next begins. By separating the data into individual pieces, and giving each piece a name, the information is easily separated and identified. Taking its name from the way paper-based information systems are named, each piece of data is called a "file". The structure and logic rules used to manage the groups of information and their names is called a "file system".
