Some facts about Slovenia

Administrative division
Slovenia is subdivided into 212 municipalities (eleven of which have the status of urban municipalities). The municipalities are the only bodies of local autonomy in Slovenia.

NIPH represent a central institution in the field of public health with its 500 employees and numerous partners from various sectors and non-governmental institutions strives to fulfil its mission – contribute to better health and welfare of Slovenian population.

Presents a variety of health indicators at municipal level. The health indicators were selected by considering data availability and the importance of the issue the indicator measures for actions and policies at municipal level.

Community approach We are developing community-based approach to health promotion and reduction of health inequalities that were carried out in three pilot environments under the project "To improve health and reducing health inequalities - Together for Health“, which was supported by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism.

Our goals in the I-SEE project
to build up regional networks involving law enforcement, NGO‘s and public health professionals to detect NPS in an early phase of their appearance and in individual regions to enable anonymous collection of NPS samples in regions to speed up the procedure of anonymous collection of NPS samples and their analysis to speed up the response in terms of informing the users and take adequate measures to tackle the problem

Manage to implement the results of the EU project into practice through the existing system and with integrated approach. Manage to strengthen EWS system on NPS in Slovenia. Contribute to reduce inequalities Establish a good network with NGO´s.
