2 Psi Chi was founded in 1929 at Yale University for the purposes of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship, and advancing the science of psychology.

3 Member of the Association of College Honor Societies
Affiliate of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Association for Psychological Sciences (APS)

4 Membership Requirements
Minimum 3.0 GPA Overall and in Psychology Second-semester sophomore Psychology Majors, Minors or Graduate Students Must have completed at least 3 psychology courses **Transfer students must complete 4 psychology courses at UML

Psi Chi encourages student research and awards over $300,000 annually in awards, grants and scholarships. Membership in Psi Chi meets one of the requirements for entrance at the GS-7 level in numerous professional and technical occupations in the United States government. Membership is for life.
