2. ABOUT THE COLLEGE
Ruia College is located in the central part of Mumbai close to Hindu colony, between the Dadar and Matunga railway stations. It is one of the most highly reputed colleges in the country.The University of Mumbai (MU) granted autonomous status to Ramnarain Ruia College in year 2017.[2] It comprises the Ramnarain Ruia College of Arts and Science and the Ramnivas Ruia Junior College of Arts and Science. The college has been awarded a five star rating by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council of India. Also the National Assessment and Accreditation Council accorded it the A Grade. The college earned a CGPA of 3.65 out of 4, which is the highest in Maharashtra. Ruia College has become the first college in the country to achieve the 'College of Excellence' status by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The students and alumni of Ruia college are colloquially known as Ruiaites. The katta (literally meaning meeting place, in Marathi) is a popular meeting point for Ruiaites, present and past.
The College was established in June 1937.
Ruia college won the award for the best college given by University of Mumbai for the year It has been winning the trophy in the youth festival organized by Mumbai University for the last six consecutive years.

3. ABOUT OUR CHEMISTRY DEPARTMENT
Department of Chemistry is as old as Ruia College. It is one of the biggest Departments catering to about 600 students at the UG & about 250 students at the PG and the doctoral level. The Department of Chemistry has research tradition spanning over half a Century to with more than 250 students having passed out with doctoral degree through the portals of this Institution.  Currently the Department has 6 research guides. Department has received grants from the funding agencies like DBT, DST, UGC and CSIR. It has been successfully running Dr. P. S. Ramanathan Advanced Instrumentation Centre, only one of its kind in the city of Mumbai, housing high-end use instruments like HPLC, GC, GC-Ms, AAS.
