2 Who are we? 5 year program - opportunity to earn a high school diploma from HCEC and an associate transfer degree from BRCC For FREE! Tuition and cost of books are free as long as you maintain a “C” average in your classes Some of us may be the first in our family to earn a college degree Staff – 1 principal, 1 counselor, 7 teachers, 2 tutors and 4 support staff 200 students – We offer a small, personalized environment

3 Expectations Must be able to complete honors and college level coursework Behave like a college student Be accountable for your actions Use time wisely Turn in ALL assignments Show up to school - Attendance is important

4 Student Activities Clubs – HCEC and BRCC Prom for all grade levels
Campus events – dances, Fall Fest, Spring Picnic, assemblies, Café Day, Spirit Week, intramurals 10 hours of community service yearly Trips – College Visits, Washington D.C. No athletics, band, strings or chorus

5 HCEC Schedule Early College vs Traditional Calendar 8:15-2:35
Transportation 9th grade – 1st semester – 4 high school courses 2nd semester – 2-3 high school courses and 2 college courses – ACA115 and COM231/PED110 Upperclassmen Privileges

6 Application Process We accept between 40-45 freshmen each year
STEP 1: Application Complete and turn in on time – incomplete applications will not be considered! Application must be completed by: Student – Student Agreement and Essay (preferably typed) Parent – Parent Agreement and Demographics Counselor/Principal – Recommendation , grades, test scores, attendance and discipline records 2 Teachers – Teacher Recommendation Completed applications are due to your school counselor by: Friday, February 17

7 Application Process STEP 2 – Interview
You will be notified if you made it to Step 2 by March 10 Interviews will be held on Thursday, March 23 from 4:30-5:30 and 6:00-7:00 Interviews are conducted in groups of 4-10 students Interview consist of: Teacher interviews Student interviews Student activity On-Demand writing Parent meeting
