1 Morning Prayer Miss Johnson

2 Catholic versus Protestant

3 Prayers personal affair, alone but aloud Before After
Primer- a book of prayers in Latin In nomine patris et filii et spiritus sancti, Amen. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen Cross over the chest Paternoster (the Lord’s Prayer) Ave Maria the Creed After 1545 official Church of England Primer in English the Lord’s Prayer Book of Common Prayer however, memorized, fixed prayers were become less popular

4 Ave Maria Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee;
blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

5 The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven: Give us this day our daily bread; And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive them that trespass against us; And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil: When before the Collect the priest alone recites the prayer, the people here respond: Amen. When after all have communicated the people repeat each petition after the priest, the prayer ends: For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, For ever and ever. Amen.

6 The Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
