2. In groups of SIX you will create an INFORMATIVE poster that shows contrasts and conflicts.
You will be graded on this.
Each group member will be given a piece of paper with their topic on it. You will create your portion of the poster as directed in the following slides.
Be sure to put your name on your contribution… you will be graded on YOUR work.
You may use your cell phone or a computer, but remember:
Know what you are writing or referencing. If you can’t explain what you are reading, don’t use it!!!!
Use reputable websites: major news sources, the United Nations (UN), the EU, CIA World Fact Book, etc.

How is it measured?
Choose a country in each of the 4 major European regions. Find the HDI for each and come up with 3 reasons as to why there is a difference.
Life Expectancy and CDR
Explain the difference between the two.
Explain why life expectancy IS a good measure of development, but CDR is NOT.
Choose a country in each of the 4 major European regions give Life Exp. and CDR for each. Why do you think some are higher and some are lower?
GDP
Explain what it is and how it is measured.
Choose a country in each of the 4 major European regions and find the GDP for each.
Explain why you think there are such differences between the countries. (Why are some higher and some lower?) Think outside of the box, think about factors we have talked about in class.
Religion
Find an example of religious conflict in Europe in the last 30 yrs
The country/countries where the conflict took/is taking place.
Explain the conflict in detail.
How has it changed the human geo of the country?
Nationality/Ethnicity
Find an example of national/ethnic conflict in Europe in the last 30 years.
Language
Find an example of linguistic conflict in Europe in the last 30 years.
