Exploration has a very low impact on the environment if done correctly. A few points to remember: 1) Adhere to EMP 2) A compensation agreement with the farmer/ local community must be in place. 3) Always consult with farmers and/or communities in the exploration area – keep good relations by informing the farmers/ local communities on exploration plans. 4) Respect local traditions 5) The explorationist must have knowledge on animal behaviour

B) Establishment of environmental database (exploration companies can assist in populating databases) Tree Atlas Bird Atlas Reptile Atlas Mammal Atlas Entomology Atlas

C) Environmental Practitioners should establish a professional board Unprofessional conduct by many environmental practitioners can be observed (cut and paste practises as well as conflict of interest in some instances)

D) CSR projects should focus on environmental education, especially in schools (addressing littering and deforestation)

E) Capacity for monitoring the environment should be established within GRN or is the NCE taking over this roll? Is the agricultural laboratory still functional?
