Angles of a Polygon MOS Practice
Find the sum of the INTERIOR angle measures of each regular polygon. Then find the measure of one interior angle in each regular polygon. Finally, find the measure of each EXTERIOR angle. If you draw the REGULAR POLYGON, you’ll receive 1 point extra credit. 1. hexagon c. Measure of each EXTERIOR angle a. Sum of the interior angles S = (n – 2) 180° Write an equation. 6x = 360° Write an equation. A hexagon has 6 exterior angles. S = (6 – 2) 180° Substitute n with 6. x = 60° Division Property of Equality S = (4)180 or 720° Simplify. b. Measure of each interior angle EXTRA CREDIT DRAWING! A = 720° n Write an equation. A = 720° 6 Substitute n with 6. A = 120° Simplify.

2. pentagon c. Measure of each EXTERIOR angle a. Sum of the interior angles S = (n – 2) 180° Write an equation. 5x = 360° Write an equation. A pentagon has 5 exterior angles. S = (5 – 2) 180° Substitute n with 5. x = 72° Division Property of Equality S = (3)180 or 540° Simplify. b. Measure of each interior angle EXTRA CREDIT DRAWING! A = 540° n Write an equation. A = 540° 5 Substitute n with 5. A = 108° Simplify.

3. octagon c. Measure of each EXTERIOR angle a. Sum of the interior angles S = (n – 2) 180° Write an equation. 8x = 360° Write an equation. A octagon has 8 exterior angles. S = (8 – 2) 180° Substitute n with 8. x = 45° Division Property of Equality S = (6)180 or 1080° Simplify. b. Measure of each interior angle EXTRA CREDIT DRAWING! A = 1080° n Write an equation. A = 1080° 8 Substitute n with 8. A = 135° Simplify.

4. quadrilateral c. Measure of each EXTERIOR angle a. Sum of the interior angles S = (n – 2) 180° Write an equation. 4x = 360° Write an equation. A quadrilateral has 4 exterior angles. S = (4 – 2) 180° Substitute n with 4. x = 90° Division Property of Equality S = (2)180 or 360° Simplify. b. Measure of each interior angle EXTRA CREDIT DRAWING! A = 360° n Write an equation. A = 360° 4 Substitute n with 8. A = 90° Simplify.
