Mrs. Lammons’ Newsletter November 6-10 Homework: Homework is only used to reinforce skills taught in class. 30 minutes per night is the maximum that should be spent working on homework. Your child should read 20 minutes every night . Students need to read different genres to meet the 40 Book Challenge. The planner is located in your child’s G.O. book. Read 20 minutes and practice spelling each night. Math: Lessons 3.11, 3.12, and Chapter 3 Extra Practice (pages 73-76) *Math Test on Thursday. Homework pages are found in the GO Math Standards Practice workbook. Important Dates: 11/1-11/9 Canned Food Drive (Please send in canned goods for the East AL Food Bank.) 11/9 Veterans Day 9:30AM 11/11 Veterans Day Holiday 11/14 Dedicated Dads at OES 6:45 AM 11/22-11/24 Thanksgiving Holidays 12/20 Holiday Parties 1:45-2:30 PM What We Are Learning Read Aloud : The Rough Face Girl by Maribeth Boelts Comprehension: I can compare folktales and characters. Grammar: I can identify adjectives. Phonics: I can spell words with long a (ai, ay, ea, ey, eigh). Writing: I can write a personal narrative and include details to help my reader visualize. I can write in complete sentences. Math: I can represent and solve problems involving addition and subtraction. *Math Test on Thursday (addition and subtraction, word problems, and arrays). Social Sciences: I can research a bat of my choice and write an informational “All About” book from my findings. I will learn about Veterans Day. * Don’t forget to wear red, white, and blue on Thursday. We will honor our veterans in the Tiger’s Den at 9:30 AM.
