5. Must confess Christ to Be saved
Mt. 16:16. “And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. “
“Thou art the Christ”
- the Messiah - Hebrew for anointed
- anointed of God as the Redeemer
“The Son of the living God.”
- Jews did not expect him to be the Son of God
Jesus promised to build His church on this Truth - Mt.16:18

Acts 8:37 is an example of the confession
“And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”

11. Baptism of John Matt. 3:1-6
Used by John the Baptist in order to prepare the nations for the coming of the Messiah
Was replaced by baptism instituted by Christ in the great commission
Some were re-baptized who had been under the baptism of John – Acts 19:1-5

Used to give special miraculous powers to the apostles
These powers were used to confirm that what was being taught was from God Mark 16:20
These powers ceased when the Bible was completed – 1 Cor. 13:8

Matt. 3:16 “And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:”
Mark 1:9 “And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.
10 And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:”

22. Through The Testimony of Spirit Inspired men
Peter – on Pentecost “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” Acts 2:38
Ananias – to Saul “And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.” Acts 22:16

23. Through Divinely Approved Examples
Peter – Cornelius – Acts 10: “Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.”
Phillip – the eunuch – Acts 8:38 “And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.”

Because God commanded it

25. The Results of Baptism
Allows us entrance to God’s kingdom – the church
John 3:1-5 Christ told Nicodemus that he must be born again in order to see the kingdom of God.
Acts 2:47 God added to the church daily those who were being saved.

26. Baptism is the means of our getting into Christ.
Gal 3:27 “For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
I Cor. 12:13 “For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
Rom. 6:3 “Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

27. Our sins are remitted when we are baptized.
Lk. 24:47 “And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.”
Acts 22:16 “And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.”

When we are baptized into Christ we have the remission of our sins.
