Using RefWorks Exporting References from ACM Digital Library

Part 1: Export your references from ACM

Click on a title you are interested in

Click on the “BibTeX” export format

Method 1: export each reference to its own file and then import multiple files into RefWorks

Accept the default or give the file a one word name
Click the “Save” button

Method 2 is faster: copy each reference into a Notepad file and then import one file into RefWorks

First reference in a Notepad file

Copy the next reference…

And paste it into the first Notepad file
Continue until you have all the references you want

Accept the default or give the file a one word name
Click the “Save” button

Part 2: Import your references into RefWorks

On the menu bar, select References > Import

Import Filter/Data Source: choose “bibTeX” from the dropdown menu
Database: choose “ACM Digital Library BibTeX form” Browse for the file

The Notepad file with multiple references was chosen for this example
-Click Open after choosing the file

Select the “Import Into Folder”
Click the “Import” button
