2. FY 2017 STRATEGIC PLAN RETREAT/MEETINGS & RECOMMENDATIONS
Two in-person Strategic Planning Meetings held in CA, April 7-8 & May , 2017
The threshold Question during first Meeting : Do we want to continue and, if yes, in the current or another form?
State Coalition self-evaluation questions were asked of 39 and results reviewed from 19 responders—further input is needed but a picture resulted from the input—our work was not done
NASPCC Mission, Goals and Objectives and 3 Strategic Priorities were reviewed and a SWOT Exercise completed
Recognized the Unique Vision and role of the group, the longevity of the organization, the passion of the volunteers and the challenges for NASPCC (not in all states yet and funding)

3. 3 RECOMMENDATIONS TO EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE in JULY 2017
1) Modify and Expand the MISSION STATEMENT
2) Take Action on a list of 15 identified Issues
3) Keep a close eye on and manage the FY2017 Approved Budget
Workplan presented and Approved at the July 18th Board Meeting &
New MISSION STATEMENT Approved:
NASPCC is a nation-wide organization comprised of state Prostate Cancer Coalitions dedicated to saving men’s lives and enhancing the quality of life of prostate cancer patients and their families, through awareness and education and the development of a public policy network

4. What are the 15 Identified Issues for Action?
New Conflict of Interest and Code of Ethics Policies added to By-laws
Form new & Assist current State Coalitions
Increase Participation of Coalitions
Increase NASPCC Website activity
Improve Communication and Collaboration
Re-visit Status of the Former Prostate Cancer Roundtable
Enhance Education, Outreach & Awareness
Update Best Practices Guide & Coalition Start-up Materials
Develop Education and Awareness Materials

10) Explore Further Fundraising Activities
11) Explore new Donors
12) Develop Educational Events & 2019 Anniversary Gala
13) Add Volunteer to Executive Committee (Thomas Kirk, now VP with CPCC)
14) 2017/2018 Board Recruitment & Election
15) Develop a FY 2018 Budget
Written Status Reports Developed for the Board Members on July 19th, July 31st and most recently, October 3rd; and comments to the full mailing list on several occasions throughout the process

6. Items of Note at this 13th Annual Meeting
The new Mission Statement appears here at the Meeting & in the new NASPCC brochure released here as well
The new policies call for signatures of a Code of Conduct by all attendees, and Signatures by the Current and New Board members on the Conflict of Interest forms—both to happen here
We have new representatives from WI, OR & AZ here and work continues with volunteers in IL, TX & MI. Work is being explored to offer Sponsored National Quarterly Conference calls to mentor State Coalitions and provide Industry Up- dates on Testing, Treatment and Tools.
A new NASPCC Facebook page has been launched and the Website has new life; and 3 new ListServes are active—one for State Coalitions—because of Johnny Payne’s work
A new Communications Committee is chaired by LaTanya Patton to seek more information from the Coalitions, to explore the development of a Memorandum of Understanding for the organization to facilitate effective state strategies, and to develop Quarterly Conference calls on Best Practices, Social Media and other open topics

7. More Updates to Report at the 13th Annual Meeting
Thanks for the work of this year’s Annual Meeting Committee, Chaired by Merel, co-Chaired by Don Lynam and members Mary Anderson, Johnny Payne, Paul Kradel, LaTanya Patton, Jan Marfyak, Deb Johnson and Tom Kirk.
To facilitate use of NASPCC materials such as the Informed-Decision Making Tool/laminate, up-dated copies are being shared here for people to take home and distribute
The NASPCC Best Practices Guide & the State Coalition Start-up Workbook are being reviewed by LaTanya Patton
The Education & Awareness Committee has been re-launched under Johnny’s leadership and a list of 10 projects has been developed including Webinars, new brochures/materials, a bi-monthly electronic Newsletter.

8. Final Plan Points & Wrap-up
Future Collaborations with Coalition Representatives are being explored for 2 new Educational Conferences
A new 2019 Educational Gala event to celebrate NASPCC’s 15th Anniversary is in the planning stage which may produce new revenue for the Alliance
Solid work was done by LaTanya and Johnny to nominate Officers and new Board Members for FY 2018
Treasurer Don Lynam, Jan Maryfak and Tom Kirk prepared a FY Budget presented to the Executive Committee on October 3rd and recommended for Board Approval at this Board Meeting. The Budget includes a 2018 Annual Meeting, presence at key Cancer meetings, Coalition Formation/Assistance--including new Quarterly Conference calls, Public Policy activities, new Materials, and Webinars.
